E-journals and Bloge in Online Education

E-journals can be a very helpful resource, also known as online education journals. They address both online and regular education needs. E-journals provide a source of articles by education professionals as well as beginners in the field. “Blogs” are personal online journals where comments can be posted by students. Online classes are often assigned blogs to be used as community journals where all participants may post information.

Uses for Blogs in a University Online Course

(Source: Trimarco, R. (2004). “Use of Blogs in Online College Classes.” B. Hoffman (Ed.), Encyclopedia of Educational Technology. January 7, 2007, at: http://coe.sdsu.edu/eet/Articles/blogonlineclass/start.htm)

Blogs are used for:

* Professors to post assignments, class requirements, information, lessons, answer questions from students, and post a weekly topic for students to comment on.

* Professors and students to post articles related to the class and others respond.

* Classes to hold discussions about lectures, assigned reading, news, and projects.

* Students to post completed assignments and notes and give others feedback.

* Students to create writing portfolios.

General Uses For Blogs

Personal online journals are also used to create a forum for bloggers on which to post their opinions, review books or other sites, or upload articles. Remember that work posted on such sites may be copied and used by others illegally. Unless you paraphrase it and cite the source or quote it and cite the source, it’s not acceptable to use others’ posted information as your own.

Online Education - Getting Started With The Basics

Application for a degree course at the University is a lengthy process. Filling up of the requisite forms and looking out for the recommendations necessary and making sure that everything has been taken care of may take a long time. The whole procedure is extremely complex. It is an agonizing wait until the admissions department verifies the details in the form and gets back to you on the status of your application.

The method of application for an online degree depends on the college or university in question and each institution has its own different procedures. Some of them allow online applications, whereas others require the physical paper copy of the form after enrolling online. The institutions do not give a choice for both the options. However, one needs to be aware of the logistical problems involved in both methods of application for degrees.

Some of the online applications need to be filled in one sitting and cannot be done in parts. It is not possible to save the half-completed form and then go back to complete it later. This means that you need to have at hand, all the data that may be required for completion of the form. Physical forms filled up and sent by post may tend to get lost or you may have not completed the form and missed out some sections. There is no way to check, unless the admissions department informs you of the mistakes. However, one must always retain a copy of the application forms sent out, be it online or by post.

Filling the application is the easy part. The issue of concern is the accreditation and whether your application will be judged on the merit, it deserves. Most online universities are more concerned with the fact that you are willing to pay money to get admission in the university. You have to make sure of the university’s background, genuineness and identity before you decide to enroll for any course.

While filling the application form for online education, make sure that you have completed all the details asked for in the application. Secondly, ensure that you have provided all the relevant information. You can take the services of career guidance agencies if you feel you need help in the matter. Better still, you could contact the administrative office of the college or university if you require clarification of any point or if you need any information. They are the best source of information, should you feel the need for any advice or clarifications in the matter of the online application.

The most crucial point in the whole procedure of application for online degree is that it should reach the concerned institution on time. If you do not meet the deadline and your application reaches late, the institution may just reject it. Therefore, it is vital to see that you complete all the necessary formalities well in advance and send the form before the deadline, to avoid disappointment.

Online Education Website Selection - Part 2

In my last article, we discussed reviewing online course selection and software when considering selection of an online learning website. While course selection and software are important, there are a number of other areas you should consider when selecting a online learning website.

Free Evaluation

While you may have to register or buy a course, make sure there is a free evaluation period and a no questions asked money back guarantee. Working with the product is the best way to evaluate the site. A free online evaluation allows you to see if the site matches your goals and objectives from your Self-Assessment..

Free Courses

Another way to evaluate online education websites is by taking the free online classes, if they are offered. While the online subjects offered for free may be very basic or not quite what you are interested in, working with the product in real time is the best form of evaluation.

Testimonials

While these should not be your sole source upon which to make a decision, you should review these. What do they say? How many can you find? Who is providing them? Testimonials, while many times are self-serving and are provided by the website you are reviewing, will give you an idea of what individuals like about the site and what they found beneficial. Hopefully, the testimonials will highlight areas you identify in your Self-Assessment..

Reviews

Reviews, especially independent reviews, are very beneficial to your decision. Reviews will confirm the quality of the online learning website and talk about the best features the website offers.

Pricing

Does the site offer individual course pricing? Package Pricing? Bulk pricing? Review the pricing structure to ensure it is flexible enough to address any of your learning needs. Of course you should consider pricing and a budget as part of your self-assessment.

If you pick a site using the criteria discussed above and those from Part I, you will not have to worry about picking a bad online learning site.

Avoiding Frustrations with an Online Education

If pursuing an online education is a relatively new venture for you, there will probably be some frustrations as you get started. But if you prepare ahead of time to minimize those frustrations you’ll be much further ahead.

Taking college classes online is an entirely new lifestyle. You have to mentally prepare yourself, and the people you live with, for this new lifestyle. You will have to let them know gently but firmly that you need that time to yourself when distractions are to the minimum. Though online courses are built with flexibility in mind, you will still have to maintain a schedule for your online time in order to meet your goals. Communicate this schedule with your household members. It will make it easier on them and you.

Make sure that you have a computer that is capable of the technologies employed by the college to communicate course material and activities. Also make sure your Internet connection is reliable. If you feel that your computer skills are rusty, brush up on them and try to learn touch-typing before you start your course. It can come in really handy especially if your course employs a lot of discussion groups and chats.

Each online college will have a published set of guidelines and policies. Make sure you familiarize yourself with them. If you feel that certain policies are not being met, bring it to the notice of the authorities immediately.

Make sure that you find out all costs associated with the course before embarking on your studies. Costs that spring up mid-course, when you least expect them are more than just unpleasant surprises. They can potentially be deal-breakers.

It always helps to be proactive. Be proactive before you start pursuing your online education. It will pay off big time.

Online Education - Self-Assessment

When considering taking online learning courses, it is a good idea to complete a self-assessment of your goals, current skill set, and specifically what knowledge you want to acquire. Once you have completed your self-assessment, you can move to Course Selection.. So where do you start? At the beginning of course and this and the next series of articles will take you through the self-assessment process, course selection and the other things you should think about when developing your online Education program.

Goals and Objectives

While you may not need to conduct a self-assessment or Course Selection. for one course, you should think about goals if you are considering taking a broad ranging subject (e.g., Personal Development, Personal Desktop Computing, Starting a Small Business, Web Design, IT Certification). You should have both short and long term goals because with any long term endeavor, the short term goals keep you motivated to reaching you long term objective. For example, you are considering starting a new business, setting up a time line for completing the first few courses (e.g., Managing your Business, Raising Financing) and a longer term goal (e.g., Start the business by xx/xx/xxxx). Well arranged goals and objectives will not only motivate you but keep you on track and increase your overall chances for success.

Current Skills

Assessing your current skills are important to both developing your goals and objectives and ultimately, Course Selection.. Being honest with your self is also important. First, identify, your advanced skills set. While there is probably more you can learn, you can rely on your current skills in reaching you ultimate objective. For example, in starting a new business, if you have good marketing skills, you would not initially take any advertising or marketing courses. You should focus on the skills you need which you have either a basic knowledge that you will need to know more about to reach your objective. On a very basic level you may need to select the type of business or need to develop your skills in office management or managing a business generally. Now re-review your goals and objective to make sure both are in sync.

Budget

While online education is very economical, you should estimate the cost of your Course Selections. and the time frame you are expecting to take them. Does the cost meet the amount you expected to invest? If not, consider reducing your list or extending your time line for completion. Do not reduce your list to a point where you are not acquiring enough skills to meet your objective.

What Is Better For An Mba? Online Distance Education Or Classes?

I am searching for Canadian MBA programs and I discovered two (2) options: 1.) online distance MBA programs from Athabasca and Royal Roads Universities, and 2.) Saint Mary’s or Dalhousie Universities.
I live in Halifax so that is why my second option lists these universities. But I’m not sure which one offers the best education. Distance does interest me a little because it would keep me at home more often, while the programs offered at Saint Mary’s or Dalhousie may or may not offer more.
Which one is the better option…distance ed or not?
Which one is valued more by employers?

Getting a Degree Online With Online Education

Getting a degree with online education has allowed the universities and colleges to evolve into the new millennium. Technology has advanced so much that we can actually sit at our computers and have an Internet tuition course teach us almost as effectively as being in the classroom. To obtain a qualification through Internet tuition you first must understand how the process works.

As an individual you have to have the time management skills to complete the online education course. Students may not have time to go to a regular university or they may not like attending classes at specified hours, but not everyone can handle doing the work at home as procrastination can be an issue. Some need that formal classroom. If you have decided you are capable of Internet tuition you can obtain a qualification from a number of Internet tuition programs.

In order to get a degree online you do have to enroll with an accredited university or college. You also have to make sure this institution will provide all of the courses you need. Most colleges are trying to offer more Internet tuition, but some courses are still hard to find. This may mean that you need to attend a regular college as well depending on your program. Technology programs are at least one you can do completely by Internet tuition.

The online education institution will have a course program that you must follow. You will have to apply to the institution and be accepted into that degree program. Once you have been accepted into the degree program you will have to obtain a certain level GPA to pass the courses and earn a qualification. Most degree programs are still going to require at least a 2.0 if not a 2.5 GPA. Once you have completed every course with a passing grade you will find the next step is applying for the qualification. The institution will make sure you have all the courses complete and then issue a degree.

Online Education Website Selection - Part 1

There are numerous online education sites who offer hundreds of courses in various disciplines. Unlike Online Universities, you do not have to work towards a degree and can purchase one course or all the courses offered. Some online learning sites offer package deals in a particular topic or discipline. So how do you decide which online learning site to choose? Use the following as a guide for a start and then do a Self-Assessment to make your online education experience as useful as possible.

Course Selection

This is the most obvious as you probably have a topic in mind. However, you should be looking towards the future as well. Take a look through the entire online course catalogue. Are there other courses you might be interested in? Are there other related topics to the one you are interested in that would help expand your knowledge? Do the courses offered fit in with your? Self-Assessment? You want to be sure you can grow with the site and that the site offers both diversity in online course subjects and depth from beginner to advanced courses and related important subjects that might be worth studying.

Software

While this may not initially seem like an important feature, there are a number of basic features that any online education site should offer. The most important is navigation features including but not limited to a detailed Table of Contents and Index. Bookmarking is also important including remembering your last location at logoff. Learning for most people is not just reading through material but involves looking back at other sections and making connections from prior material as you move through the course making good navigation critical.

In the next article we will examine evaluation, pricing and testimonials and how to use each to your best advantage.

Information on Online Education for the Teaching Profession

. For those thinking of a teaching career there are many choices as to which area you can go into. Teachers have the ability to mould young minds, encourage students to make their own choices and become successful. The majority of people who choose to go into teaching do so for the love of it, to work with young people and to help society.

Being a teacher isn?t all easy, there are a lot of reports and other paperwork to be completed, planning and teaching can be stressful and teaching children exhausting. However there are just as many positives, for example the long holidays offered, a job that is motivating, and the pleasure you get watching an uncooperative child blossom.

Deciding on the kind of student you would like to teach, elementary, secondary, college, foreign students, etc. can be confusing. Volunteering or helping out at a summer school or your local nursery could give you a hint and some guidance. There is a huge difference teaching kindergarten to high school but they can both be gratifying in their own ways.

Once you have decided on the age level you would like to teach, you will need to find out the qualifications you need for teaching this group. Qualifications for teaching young children is quite different to secondary age and the last thing you want to do is to waste your time getting qualifications you can use.

Working in a high school, you generally need to specialize in a certain subject, such as math or history. Each state has different requirements so check with your local authority as to what qualification you need to gain for the area of work you are interested in and if previous experience can gain you credits.

Getting some experience as a teacher?s assistant is a good way to experience a typical teacher?s workload before venturing on this path yourself. You can see how the teacher interacts with their students and learn a lot from the opportunity. It can help you gain confidence and offer teaching opportunities that will develop your teaching style as well as looking impressive on your resume.

For teachers with qualifications and skill there will always be positions available. Teachers have to be able to think quickly, to capture the attention of a class of students and to motivate. It is important you know your subject and if unsure of any area you are teaching it will be necessary to revise yourself the night before or you will lose the confidence of your students.

Motivation and good communication are the key aspects to any good teacher. If the class is boring the student will very soon ?switch off? and learn nothing. Your aim is to make them want to know more about the subject you are teaching. You will find lots of colleges and universities offering courses that can provide the training you need to become a teacher.

There are also lots of opportunities to learn to teach online, or if you are already a teacher to further your career in this area. An online education degree can get you that job you want, and give you a better sense of worth as well as earning you a considerably higher income.

Online education degrees are offered at the associate, bachelor?s, master?s, and doctorate levels. If you are interested in a special certification or certificate, these can also be obtained at certain online schools. Go online and find teaching courses as well as teaching material and homework resources

.

Michiel Van Kets provides article services for Amanda Brown who works for Online Education Degree. Top 6 Best Tax Tips for Online Education

Just like many facets of life, you can save money and earn money back on your online education by utilizing these tax tips:

1. File even if you made too little last year; many don’t realize that if you’ve had ANY money withheld from pay checks, you have a refund coming. If you don’t file, you’ll never get that refund, so file even when you didn’t make enough to compel you to file.

For 2006 tax returns and those under 65 years of age:

If you are a single filer and made $8,450 or more in 2006, you need to file.

If you are a head-of-household and made $10,850 or more in 2006, you need to file.

If you and your spouse file jointly and you’re both under 65, if you made $16,900 or more in 2006, you need to file.

If you’re over 65, the amounts are as follows -

$9,700 for single filers.

$12,100 for head of household filers.

$17,900 for married couples filing jointly where one spouse is 65+ years old.

$18,900 for married couples filing jointly where both spouses are 65+ years old.

2. There are three main ways to save money, but you are only eligible for one of them, so you need to choose the one that best fits your specific situation.

a. Hope Scholarship Credit - It’s a non-refundable tax credit, not a scholarship. If you are eligible, you can claim up to $1,500 for qualified tuition and related educational expenses. However, you must file a federal tax return to receive this credit.

Essentially, qualifications include

- being enrolled in a program leading to a degree, certificate, or other recognized educational credential; - being enrolled at least part-time for at least one academic period beginning during the year; - being applicable for a student’s first two years; - the student not having a felony drug conviction on his/her record.

b. Lifetime Learning Credit - Broader in scope than the Hope Scholarship Credit, if you are eligible, you may be able to claim a credit of up to a maximum of $2,000 for qualified educational expenses.

Essentially, qualifications include

- being applicable to all years of postsecondary education and to acquire or improve job skills; - being applicable for full-time, part-time, or less than part-time students; - being applicable for an unlimited number of years; - being applicable for one (or more) educational courses; - being applicable to even those who have been convicted of a federal or state felony drug offense.

c. Student Loan Interest Deduction - Unlike the other two options, this deduces the interest on your federal or private loans. The maximum deductible interest on a qualified student loan is $2,500. The amount you are allowed to deduct is based upon your filing status and your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI.)

You can find out more information about all three at http://www.irs.gov.

3. Don’t wait until the last minute to figure out your taxes; start early and save on the stress.

You can go online to download the state and federal forms you’ll need - do this early to get an idea of what issues may apply to your return.

On top of that, if you need help (and many people use certified tax accountants to help prepare their taxes,) it’s easier to get that help sooner rather than later because many people wait until the last minute to do their taxes, so the tax accountants are often booked solid.

Additionally, tax accountants will be under more pressure as the April 15 deadline approaches, so you might be able to get more answers to your questions if you go to him/her earlier rather than later.

You can also utilize the IRS’ knowledge of preparing your tax returns by calling 1-800-829-1040. The call is toll-free. You may be transferred several times during the call - make sure to write down each person’s name and identification number for future reference later.

You can also see if an Internal Revenue Service volunteer Income Tax Assistance site is in your community if you need in-person assistance in filing your taxes.

4. Give yourself a weekend to work on your return.

No, this doesn’t mean it will take you a whole weekend to do your taxes, BUT the extended period without work or school will allow you to take needed breaks when you get tired and still allow you to double-check those numbers before you mail or e-file that return.

In fact, many suggest you take two weekends and the week in between to make sure your tax returns are correct. Take the first weekend to do your returns in a leisurely fashion, then take the next week to seek any outside help and ask any questions you have, then take that second weekend to check the numbers again and mail or e-file that return.

5. Practice on paper.

Even if you e-file your returns, it might be prudent to practice on paper first because you can see the entire one side of the paper and all pertinent information. Online, you can only see so much of the tax form if you have the magnification in your PDF viewer too high, thereby making it more likely to miss errors and make mistakes.

After you have figured everything out on paper, it’s very easy to just type in the correct numbers in the correct spaces and then e-file it.

6. Make sure to make a copy of all forms before mailing or e-filing them.

To be on the safe side, you should ALWAYS have a copy of all of the forms of your tax return in the event that there is a dispute over them at some point in the future. That way, you don’t have to rely on someone else providing that information for you.

Utilize these tips and you will likely complete your tax returns on time correctly with less stress and have better chances of earning greater tax returns.

What Is A Good University That Offers Online Or Distance Education For A Masters Degree?

I am from the United States but I currently live in South Korea. I am interested in obtaining my masters degree in either history, education or English from an accredited American or European university. I am searching for actual universities that offer these programs online or through distance education. I am trying to avoid obtaining this degree through a corporate university like the University of Phoenix.

The Importance of Online Education

The progression of technology each day more and more people are hooked to the magical world of internet. The thing coming into the forefront because of this evolution is the advent of internet learning or online education. A growing number of conventional schools are now offering online degree programs so that the people that cannot attend normal school because of a problem might not loose out on education. This is also a great facility for busy working professionals that want to boost their careers.

The thing which is making these study programs so popular is the convenience and flexibility that these online schools offer are what people find attractive. Online learning is getting universally popular but it has risen to staggering heights in the US. Statistics reveal that every year about 7-11 percent increase in the number of students that study online. The online registered students are in the tens of millions with about 3 million students in the US. Institutes like Rochville University have yearly turnover of about 50000 students.

The most popular online programs at both the undergraduate and professional levels are business and IT related. Rochville University gives out degrees in 150 different courses. There is also a massive improvement in the technology that is being used for the classes. The things that took a lot of time to download and upload can be done in the matter of seconds hence assignments can be submitted easily when it took a lot of time before. There are also better means for Interaction like video conferencing and all while this was done by mails before which is pretty one dimensional way of communication. This has led to a more positive impact on a student?s motivation and performance. Certain other features have also been enhanced like security so the student?s information can be secured. Students can also interact with other students globally this result in the sharing of ideas which transcends cultural and geographical boundaries.

The biggest challenge that faces online educational authorities is that the degrees are not yet universally accepted. The solution for this problem is the online accreditation counsels and they have helped in getting the degrees recognized globally. Universities like Rochville University, Ashwood are accredited for UECOA. These ensure that students like Ashwood, Rochville and Belford universities get accepted the world over.

Online education is definitely the way forward as it enables people to continue with their education no matter where they live and what they do. It is our responsibility that universities like Rochville University don?t close up because of a lack of funds because it will be us who will be the ultimate losers.

Harris Jhosta is well known in education field. He is doing research on online education. Harris Jhosta wrote many articles to highlight online universities to provide help to online students. Click here for more Rochville University accreditation details.

How to Benefit From Online Education Courses

Copyright (c) 2008 Kenneth Anczerewicz

Do online courses sound appealing to you? What about just taking an online class or two rather than working towards an online degree? Online courses may be taken while you work full time or even if you attend a regular college or university. You can work at your own pace and at various times of your choosing depending on what’s most convenient to you. Classes are typically online for 30 days per session and and take 18 hours to complete. The site www.Online-Education.net is a great resource to use. They have over 600 online classes to choose from in their catalog.

There are many good reason to consider taking courses online.

1. Eliminate boredom! When the kids are in school, do you find that you’re bored? Take an online education course! You could try something new like cooking, photography, building websites, drawing, or anything that interests you.

2. Learn something new! Learn to do your own taxes or use a new computer program. Get new ideas for gardening or homeschooling or improve your communication and writing skills. Perhaps astronomy, religion, or genealogy will spark your interest. Men enjoy courses on tying flies (for fishing lures), stamp collecting, and history.

3. Meet some new friends or re-connect with old ones! Online courses provide good opportunities to make new friends and share experiences with your old friends. Get a friend to enroll in a course with you; you’ll have a wonderful time!

4. Improve your self-esteem! After learning a new skill, your self-esteem will soar. The new sense of accomplishment will enrich your life and encourage you to try other online courses.

5. Re-ignite your brain! Get your brain in shape. Take a few hobby or informational courses and get used to working online, remembering details, and completing projects.

6. Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease. Keeping your brain active will help prevent dementia and, possibly, Alzheimer’s Disease as you get older. Scott Gottlieb, New York newspaper writer, states that, “Participating in mentally challenging leisure activities such as reading and playing board games may help elderly people stay mentally sharp.” Researchers have found that people aged 75 years or more who engaged in leisure activities had a lower risk of dementia than other elderly people. (New England Journal of Medicine 2003; 348:2508-16).

7. Become a more interesting person. When you attend various functions such as PTA meetings you’ll have some interesting conversation to share.

8. Provide your children and family with a great role model. Adults who demonstrate life-long learning are wonderful role models for children, who learn that education continues to benefit us all through life.

9. Learn more about technology. Any time we use a computer, we learn more about technology and how to use it effectively.

10. Improve your resume. The information you learn via online courses might be a great addition to your resume and help you get a better job or more pay.

Pay attention to my roundup of reasons for taking online education courses and you may be surprised at the benefits you experience!

A Guide to Your Online Education in Law

Law is one of the most popular degree topics today and with very good reason. In the modern world, there are many types of law practice that are aired regularly. Criminal law is in more demand than ever, changes to laws in the last fifty years or so have made property lawyers in serious demand, divorce lawyers also get a lot of work put their way, and then of course there is the suing culture that we all live in is to blame for many of the liability and personal injury law firms that exist. With so many opportunities and many jobs going at any given point in time, then it is no wonder why a good percentage of students want to advance in the world of law. However, not all of them get the opportunity.

That should actually read that they did not get the opportunity before online education was invented. Law is an extremely popular subject and is offered by a high percentage of the online schools, colleges and universities out there at the moment. Even online colleges have a limited number of places every semester and there are usually very few to spare. Very few people drop out either, because it is so prestigious and an individual will need a law degree to make it into a firm after graduation. You should therefore make sure that you training is as much fun as possible because you will be stuck with it for a few years!

It is essential that you investigate all options before tying yourself to one specific online law course. The sheer range of courses online will be mind blowing and you will soon see distinct difference between the content and the structure of one course to another. No two courses are the same so it would be foolish to decide on one before vetting the rest.

However, it is not just course content that you should look at. In law, as I am sure you will realise if you want to go into the field, reputation is everything. It counts for far more than past results, and this applies to the place you studied at too. It will rarely make a difference if you trained online, but it will if you do not go to an accredited school and one with a reputation for turning out excellent law candidates.

Once you have looked at the reputation of online law schools then you will be able to narrow your list down, but not nearly enough to make a decision on that alone. It may be wise to look at who the different courses are aimed at because some specialize in a certain law, age group or social group. Some may only offer courses designed to give those with a knowledge of law already a boost so that their careers can advance, whereas others will take an individual with no knowledge of law and educate him or her to the highest level. You should make a shortlist of the ones that offer the kind of education that you need and compare that to the reputation list. This will leave you with a few potential schools and make it easier to decide from there. This whole process could take months of research and planning but it will be worth it for your career in the end so you should take the time and make the effort.

If you have made the decision to take law at an online university then you have made a big step forward, and one towards changing the rest of your life, and that can only be a good thing. You always reap what you sow and if you put in the effort to find the best possible school and course for you then good things will happen! Just remember that you have to put the effort in when doing to work online as well!

Get The Advantage: Overcoming The Negative Aspects Of An Online Education

Any individual that has researched online education or training will no doubt be well aware of the possible disadvantages that choosing an online degree or training course holds over choosing to learn in an academic or technical institution. The majority of resources available will highlight the problems so everyone considering an online course will be aware of them before they enrol. However, the one thing that these resources fail to mention is the fact that the negative aspects of an online course can easily be avoided if you know how!

Some of the negative elements associated with taking an online degree need to be dealt with before enrolling on the course, some during online education and the remaining problems may only present themselves afterwards so you must be prepared. If you deal with them as they come then you will have no problems at all!

The first potential problem is the credibility of taking an online course. This actually refers to degrees from online schools rather than more technical or practical training courses that are often set up to train individual workers by the company that employs them. In order to avoid any problems associated with online degrees, the relevant checks should be carried out before enrolling in a program. The credibility of the online university should always be examined because there are too many schools that bear accredited status but have been given that status by a sister company. These universities and school are not valid and potential employers would discard any qualification given out by them.

However, there are online schools that are validly accredited, such as the University of Phoenix. Any good school will be happy to reveal the source of its accreditation, and this should actually be displayed on the homepage or the “about us” page. Having knowledge of the source would be an excellent idea for future job interviews and resume because this will give any qualification an impressive legitimacy.

A problem that you may be faced with during the course of your degree is the level of discipline that is required in order to complete all of the assignments and tasks that are a part of the course. You can prepare for this in advance by setting up a timetable that fits in well with your day-to-day routine. A schedule can be altered to fit circumstances at any given time but planning what you are doing well in advance would give you an edge over the lure of procrastination that you will most definitely face at some stage!

If you need a helping hand to ensure that you get all work associated with an online degree completed, then find a place to go when you find that you cannot work in the home. Some individuals may head to a local library, others a coffee shop, but every individual online student should choose the place that most inspires them to work. Of course, it is completely up to you to find that place. You could try several places before settling on the one that suits you best.

The final problem that you are guaranteed to face at some time or other is employer attitudes to online degrees. Although attitudes are changing, more conservative and traditional employers will unfortunately question you as to why you took an online degree instead of attending a campus-based course. Every online student should have a rehearsed answer that sounds natural and credible. Explaining personal circumstances is not enough. You should also justify the school of your choosing. This is where having knowledge of where the school was accredited and who by comes in useful. Your argument for completing an online course should also be backed up by a brief description of the classes taken and the skills and traits that you have picked up as a result, because these skills can be of use to potential employers.

Of course, there are other problems that will be associated with your online education, but this represents the three most pressing problems that you will have to deal with. Be prepared for them, as well as any others that come your way and you will almost certainly be able to turn any negatives into positives, and that is a trick necessary when completing an online education!

What is Online Education?

What is Online Education? Online education is a broad term for types of distance learning tutions. You have distance learning, correspondence, and telecourses. With Internet tuition you do not have to be physically in the classroom. Instead you are able to take courses in technology, mathematics, biology, writing, and other areas of study that provide you with information in a different ways.

When you take a distance online education class, you are enrolled in a course at an accredited university where the professor actually teaches the course. You buy the materials needed, speak through email, and mail. You never actually meet the professor. The professor offers tutorials via the Internet as well as information on the class boards. Correspondence is through mail only. You enroll at the Internet University or through your regular university and get all information you need through the mail. You will also send work through mail. For telecourses you are actually linking up with the university via radio or television.

Online education telecourses can be conducted at the university or at your home. You can simply view the course from wherever the link is established. If you do a telecourse you can also ask questions too. The Internet tuition has developed further to include internet courses that are synchronized. In this type of Internet tuition you are able to type in questions and have the instructor answer them. You are also watching the professor manipulate the slides or online web-cast while you are in the course.

Online education offers you the way to take the courses you need from an accredited college via several methods. It provides easier access for those who have daytime jobs to earn a degree. It also makes the time more manageable for the individual taking the class. Often, students can?t take classes they need because they overlap, with Internet tuition this is no longer a worry.

How Much People On Employment Market Trust Online Education?

Community College Vs Online Education

When considering your options for a good medical transcription training program, you will find that the two predominant alternatives are a traditional “brick and mortar” education through a local community college, or an online training program. Many community colleges do a really great job of teaching the fundamentals of transcription: things like terminology and human anatomy. You will also tend to move through a college program in a cohort group. Many people like the idea of progressing in concert with a class of like-minded students. Another advantage is access to a full or part time instructor. The primary drawback of a community college MT education is that most of these programs generally lack several elements that are important to the medical transcription training process. For example:

1. Most community college programs “borrow” as much program curriculum as possible from other departments. In other words you may be sitting through a human anatomy class that is designed for a nursing program. And while this is not the worst thing in the world, you will not be focusing on the aspects of anatomy that are most needed for medical transcription. You may end up studying a lot of content that is not terribly relevant to an MT career and you may not pay enough attention to the things that are important for a transcriptionist to know, such as spelling and context.

You may also find yourself enrolled in a traditional English grammar class to fill a requirement when if you had spent the same amount of time in a grammar class that was designed for transcriptionists you would be so much further ahead. For more details www.profit-pulling-niches.com In other words, an MT grammar class will expose you to grammar terms in the context of medical language. All the examples of grammar rules, punctuation, and sentence structure will be taught with a medical language focus so that you are advancing your transcription skills at the same time you are learning or reviewing the basic rules of grammar.

2. Most community college MT training programs lack a comprehensive practicum. If you are to succeed in your quest to become a transcriptionist, it is imperative that you spend at least 50% of your training time on real physician dictated practice transcription. I cannot overemphasize this. This is the most common reason for failure in a training program. Compare it to a learning foreign language. You can learn to conjugate a hundred verbs, but until you go speak with the natives for some significant period of time, you will never become fluent. Learning to recognize a medical term you see in a book is insufficient. You must have the practice to go along with it - to hear it in context and recognize it. Similarly, learning to recognize the notes on a page will not sufficiently prepare you to play a clarinet. You have to go through the actual practice - and the more the better.

3. Most community college programs will not have the deep placement and employment connections with national transcription employers to ensure your smooth transition to your first medical transcription job. This cannot be overemphasized. At the end of the day your training will only be as good as the introductions you will receive to prospective employers and the credibility they assign to your program. Most community college programs are small and inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. It is hard for them to gain traction in the placement market because they simply don’t graduate enough people through their training program each year to warrant a lot of attention from large national employers who employ thousands of transcriptionists.

For these reasons, I would recommend an online medical transcription training program that has a practicum rich curriculum and deep industry relationships with employers. It is an unusual bonus that these programs tend to be priced significantly less than the average brick and mortar community college program. This is owing in large measure to the scalable format of the online educational model and the lower overhead required to support these programs. For more details www.workplace-warriors.com Further, the online format more closely approximates the real world work environment that you will experience as a work at home transcriptionist once you graduate. The opportunities in this career field are still exceptional. There is a growing demand, being fueled in large part by the national demographic trends of a rapidly aging population. There has never been a better time to enter this exciting field.

Online Education Programs. Are They Worth The Paper They Are Printed On?

I am considering persuing an online degree in Accounting. I was wondering if the degree is readily accepted by companies during the hiring process in comparison to going to a brick and mortar school.
Response from anyone who has gone through an online degree program, obtained a degree and found quality work. Did you feel like the fact that the degree was received online had any drawbacks?
Any helpful/informative comments are appreciated.

Online education:

Online education has the power to reach out to more people than regular courses or even distance learning courses, and why not? It offers more benefits, more convenience and more flexibility than any other type of education. You can:

Study from the comfort of your home- with online education, you have the opportunity to learn from your home, which saves the time, rush and cost that would otherwise have incurred.

Don?t have to go by the schedules- what if you have a baby? You have to look after her yourself or appoint a babysitter, both of which call for the cost of time and money; which can cost you the precious hours of your classes, and missing your classes can cost you your career. But if you go for online study you will be able to learn whenever you want; at the time of looking after your baby or just sitting relaxed, having a cup of coffee. The class will resume until you are free, and you have the opportunity to talk to your faculty through e-mail or chat or video conference.

Study at your pace: this is another big advantage of online education. You won?t have to rush at an abnormal pace which you are not comfortable with. Let other students study at their velocity, you study at yours. Online study allows you to complete your course in a duration you want, not what they want. You can complete your studies in 6 months, a year, 2 years or whichever period of time suits you.

I am an educationist and self published author. I believes that distance learning courses are no way different than traditional courses. For more information on Online education, Online study and online courses I recommends you to visit: RDI.co.uk

You Can’t Beat The Convenience Of An Online Education

The path ahead, as many studies and surveys have brought out, is taking some online courses or getting an online degree. This opportunity that has rapidly evolved in the recent years allows many of us who do not have access to university or college campus to get ahead and obtain an education. Today, more and more institutions are offering a variety of classes online and you can choose between a certificate, a diploma or a degree.

Online educations are perfect for people who don’t have enough time or resources to return to school full time. Many people who are already in the work force would like to upgrade their existing skills, or perhaps change careers completely. For many people quitting their existing job and going back to school is just not an option. There are bills to pay, and student loans are sometimes difficult to get or don’t cover enough of the costs associated with a quality education.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, online education is the perfect solution to your problem. You can keep your job and use your off hours to go online. Sacrificing week-ends and some of your leisure time during the week might take you to a whole new career.

People who live in rural areas are also good candidates for getting an online education. If you live in an area where there is no university or college campus nearby it used to be your only option was to pack up and move. For some people this just wasn’t an option. If your spouse already has a good job and your kids are settled in school, furthering your education took a backseat to other priorities. But now you can get that degree you’ve always wanted without leaving the comfort of your own home.

The modus operandi for most of the online education courses is that you sign up with whatever institution you would like to, irrespective of physical location and then start taking classes online. Additionally, all material that you may require is sent to your home by the institute. Depending on the course layout, most of the course work is completed at home while you may need to take the final exam at a convenient location.

A fact to be considered is that online courses are NOT easier than classes taken in a traditional classroom setting. Therefore, before you embark on this path, you should think about how much time you will be able to spare for your homework. These courses take as long and as much effort as a regular course.

The time required for the course is generally discussed upfront. Most institutes indicate the normal duration and the minimum input required to meet that time schedule. Make sure that you can devote at least the minimum suggested time. Often the time required is more than the recommended as the pupil is unable to lead a disciplined routine. It is very easy to get into the habit of putting things off for the next day. That’s why it is important to set deadlines and do daily work.

If time management is one of your strong suits then you shouldn’t have a problem being an online student. Often schools provide advisors to help you via email. If you aren’t sure about how well you’d do, take a few classes to find out. If you work well in that setting then you can pursue that elusive degree.

Is Online Education Cheaper Than Classroom Based In Attaining A 4 Year Course?

Internet is present craze today.

Benefits of Online Education

An online education has many benefits including lower costs, no travel time, and easy access. All you need is a computer, meaning you can work whenever and wherever it’s convenient for you. This is especially true for the adult learner, who must often juggle studies with a full-time job.

How can you benefit from studying online?

Learning is unscheduled. It means that you don’t have to attend classes on regular basis. You can choose to work and study at any time of the day you like. Though, a great responsibility for education falls on your shoulders and you are to be very self-disciplined and have a desire to succeed in your studying.

Online education allows you to absorb up-to-date and quality information, obtain valuable and relevant knowledge and master practical skills which are in demand by employers.

You have a great opportunity to commute with people all over the world and establish new relations.

You can establish meaningful interaction with your tutors and other students via the Internet without leaving your home. You can contribute to course discussion and comment on the thoughts of others. This quality and extended discussions make up a valuable element of your studying.

You have an access to a wealth of resources extremely easily, quickly and relatively cheap. Just imagine that you’ll be able to get any materials needed for your studying with a simple click of your mouse.

Your course materials include everything you may need in your studying from websites of libraries, associations, museums, agencies to databases and extensive number of media types - photos, video and audio, that enhances quality and interest factor of your education.

You get convenience and flexibility. You are free from any limitations of time and location so that you can get instruction at any time from anywhere.

You can work independently, moving onward on your own pace and concentrate on the specific topics of your interest as you complete your assignments. You are encouraged to elaborate your own learning style and choose a form of course materials which suits you better.

You can quickly earn a degree without attending a physical university and also you have an excellent opportunity to spread your course out for a longer period of time.

Thus, in short online education means students no longer have to quit their jobs to attend college, no longer have to take time off from work to attend a specific course and spend hours in rush hour traffic or drive 200 miles to the nearest University. It also means students learn at their own pace, gain more one-on-one access to their instructors and earn degrees in less time than it would take to juggle traditional courses.

In just a few years, the Internet has turned online education into a multi-billion-dollar-a-year industry; the majority of colleges and universities now offer some form of distance learning as part of their curriculum. And with the benefits we’ve listed here it’s easy to see why online education has become so popular.

Working adults can now continue their education, earn higher degrees, and earn more money by attending courses that primarily take place over the Internet.

Does Online Education Degrees Really Count In New York City?

I am working but would like to eventually be a teacher I was looking at the online teaching programs, they are so tempting.

Is There A College That You Can Do The General Education Program Online Only?

i need to do the general education program before in my home state, since im not moving for a year, and i can get it all paid for, but i want to do it online so i can work and be home with my fiance. plus i cant like move near the school either, so is there a school preferably in MA that i can do an online general education program?

Online Education is not Right for you

Probably the greatest benefit of online education is the incredible convenience that it offers. You can do your schoolwork and studying based on your schedule. No more 8am classes, no more 4-hour lectures.

This obviously has huge implications for students who have jobs, a family to take care of, or both. Instead of trying to juggle your classes around a 9-to-5 job or your son’s soccer practice, distance learning gives you the flexibility to take your classes when you can fit them in.

Although earning a degree through online education brings many advantages, you may not suit for this type of education mode. Online education is not right for you if you are group under these categories:

You Are a Social Butterfly

If you are a social butterfly who flourishes when others are around, attending an online course may not be for you. If, on the other hand, you are quiet and reserved, online education can be your ticket to success.

You tend to quit a project due to lack of motivation

If you can not stay motivated on your own, an online institution is not your best choice for getting a degree. To be success as an online student, you must be able to self-motivate, and complete projects or assignment to meet your preset schedule.

You like to listen to lecture instead of reading it

In online learning environment, you are expected to master material through reading alone. Although some online courses offer video recordings and audio clips, most programs require that students understand a large amount of information that is only available through written text. Hence, if your way of learning is better with listening to the lectures and taking notes, then traditional class-based courses will suit you better.

You are not interest in surfing internet

Although, many people are surfing internet everyday, but some are surfing internet just because they do to search for information and they feel surfing internet is not a fun but a need, when there is no need, they will stay away from internet. If you are in this group, online education may not right for you because online courses require you to understand more than just how to log onto the Internet. You need to know how to use chat rooms, message boards, forums and instant messaging.

You find hard in learning of new computer programs

Depending on the online course you take, you may need to download new software programs. If you find it difficult to learn new computer technology, you’ll need to either set aside more time for learning, or take a traditional class.

You do not like to arrange you own schedule of study

You prefer to follow a fix and pre-arrange schedule for your study. The freedom of working at your own schedule may cause you to put off your assignments or wait until the last moment to write your papers.

In Summary

Remember that online learning is not for everyone and, while it is an excellent choice for some, others will always struggle with learning independently. If after comparing your personality and habits, online degree is not right for you, then traditional classes should be your better option.

Has Anyone Actually Put An Online Education To Good Use?

Just curious if these online courses are worth the time and money.

Attention Online Students! What Was The Biggest Benifit Of Online Education For You?

This is research for an actual online class. Any and all input you can provide will be appreciated.

Overcoming The Negative Aspects Of An Online Education - Get An Advantage

Are There Any Sites To Get An Online Education For Kids W/out High School Diplomas?

I’m 11 years old and I’m so bored that I want to advance in school over the summer. Are there any online courses for kids my age?

Online continuing nursing education and the qualification being given have already received professional acceptance. The significance of online nursing education has been recognized at a higher level.

The professional world has understood that these features in the nursing qualification are must and thus online degrees are being looked with appreciation day by day.

Biggest advantage of online learning

You are the key controller of the learning process and not your guide. In the online scheme this hurdle is fully resolved because you are the master of the program and you can learn according to your speed and capability. If you find a difficult area you can repeatedly go through the topic, which is not feasible in the regular course because the guide will not accept to do it. Isn’t this the better way?

Negative Sides Of Online Education: Ways To Overcome

Online education is just the way you had yearned for to undertake a systematic learning process of your choice. You can simply surpass the hurdles of attending scheduled classes in a stereotype way and make up your personal setup as per your routine to pursue a course. You can rightly get college degrees through online education sitting back at home. Where lies the problem? Everything fits into the lifestyle you want to lead by giving you the privilege to go for higher education.

Actually this is not all. It represents only one side of the coin. Though online education or E-learning process have made a benchmark in the field of education as well as professional world yet the acceptance of such degrees still have to undergo an acid test. There are many pitfalls in the system and a throughout recognition to the online degrees in the professional scenario is yet to be attained.

Things you must make sure

Most fall into the trap of fake degrees in the name of online education. This is a common mistake and those who claim that they are providing you a genuine degree can fool you very easily. Thus it is your foremost duty to find out the authenticity of the degree being provided in the online education system from the right sources. The process is not very tough and you can also check the credentials from your home through the different supporting links provided in the web medium.

The panel that will conduct the interview always scrutinizes online degrees of any form. The whole issue is related to the affiliation or accreditation of the course to a university or distinctive school. Now you may find that the degrees on offer are accredited to some agencies of educational institutes. And here lies the trap. After seeing the accreditation you firmly rely on the genuineness of the course and get ready to enroll and invest on it. But you don’t have the slightest idea that the agency can be a fake one. Most of the times it actually happens to be so. Thus at the end of the day you land up to a fake degree that is a complete wastage of time, money and effort. You can never expect to get a proper placement with such a degree in your educational record.

Unless you make yourself fully assured about the validity and legitimacy of the accreditation matter you must not opt for such an online course. You can anytime fall into a false position and then you won’t be given a second chance to retreat.

Ways to Check if Online Education is Meant for You or not

ELearning or the acquisition of online degree presents the convenience and flexibility that is required by just about every individual in today?s fast-paced challenging world as it provides them the opportunity to fit education into their already busy lifestyles.

But, just like any other thing in life, online education is not meant for all. Not everyone has what it takes to succeed in an online degree program. One who wishes to succeed in a distance education course must be a dedicated individual who can focus on studies without guidance and has multi-tasking skills. So before making the huge decision of studying virtually at an online college or university, it is highly advisable for all to figure out if they have the capabilities that are required to succeed in eLearning.

Can You Work Alone?

The most major skill that is required to succeed in online education programs is that of being able to work alone, without a teacher looking over your shoulder at all times. The only interaction that takes place between teachers and students in distance education courses is through email, phone, chat, discussion boards etc. Those who can work along are perfect candidates for online degree programs.

Are You Comfortable with the Methods of Interaction?

Good communication is an imperative factor when it comes to enjoying your online learning journey. Those who opt for online education must be at ease with the utilization of online communication methods, which include email, chat and posting on forums. To succeed, you must be positive about classroom situations and on no account hesitate to ask questions or ask for feedback.

Do You Have Good Writing Skills?

The only method of communication in online degree programs usually is that of writing, so good writing skills are imperative for distance learners. Projects, deadlines, queries, student-teachers and interaction between virtual class-fellows is all based on writing so having poor writing skills might turn out to be a problem.

Can You Maintain a Schedule and Remain Disciplined?

Successful online learners have a fixed schedule which they follow regularly. As most online learners are fulltime employees, single parents etc, they usually set up their schedule around a time that is most comfortable for them to study. Another important factor is that of discipline. Once you setup a schedule you need to ensure that you follow it without any disturbance or distractions, thereby remaining disciplined. Those who are multi-taskers and have the ability to concentrate under any environment usually turn out to be the best online learners. Those who opt for online degree programs are responsible for their success. They must have the capability to conduct research and complete projects before the deadline.

Students are responsible for their own success in a distance learning classroom. They must be able to complete research and assignments on their own time. For certain people, this is usually the best part of studying online, while for others this is the main reason for failure. It is extremely important to figure out whether you have what it takes to succeed in an online program or not, or else your time and money would simply go to waste. At times, studying at a traditional college is the perfect option, but on the other hand those who cannot take out time to attend regular classes can opt for online education.

A Lot of Learning Institutions These Days Providing Online Education

Back to school and earn a bachelor’s degree. But you resent having to do it for years. There are a lot of learning institutions these days providing online education. While some look legit, others sound too good to be true. Getting a fast online college degree sure sounds tempting because it will save you plenty of time. However, there are a few points you might want to consider first.

Literally buying the degree

This might sound as a surprise to you, but a fast online college degree is something which you can obtain even without attending classes or turning in homework.

Such is available from degree mills on the Internet, where you plainly buy the degree. Additional options may include transcript of records or graduation certificate.

How degree mills work

Degree mills are sometimes based on life experiences alone, or on a level of academic work far below what other institutions require from their enrollees. For more details www.profit-pulling-niches.com You can earn such degrees from other legit online learning institutions as well, by attending virtual classes and downloading your lesson modules. But getting a fast online college degree will require you no assignments.

The downside of getting a fast college degree

For most people, literally buying a degree online is simply wrong. A lot of employers will not hesitate to turn down applicants whose credentials were garnered from degree mills on the Internet. A diploma earned from degree mills is not likely to impress potential employers and may just be a complete waste of money. In some parts of the United States alone, it is considered illegal to apply for a job using an unearned college degree.

Some of the things you can do to ensure a fast online college degree program are genuine:

1. Assess the education programs offered by the school and the minimum requirements they seek from the enrollees. Usually these online education programs will require life experiences based on prior learning obtained, usually worth more than two years.

Read information about the school based on a third party assessment, and not merely from the institution’s site alone.

3. Find out about the faculty members; you want to learn only from apt instructors. See how many there are and if they are credible enough to teach.

4. Check out if the school has accreditation from several school commissions. For more details www.workplace-warriors.com And while you’re at it, you might want to make sure that they are recognized by potential employers, to prevent difficulties applying for a job.

Make sure that your time and money is worth what you are getting. With careful planning, you will find an online education program that’s best for you.

Pass Christian University Online Education for Self Improvement

?

You can use online education for self-improvement in many different ways. First, learning a new skill, improving a talent or furthering your education is self-improvement, whether you?re learning to decorate cakes, relate better to others or calculate complex algebraic equations. Learning is a lifelong process of self-improvement, and a great way to foster that is through online education.

?

You can also use online education for self-improvement by furthering your career skills, whether or not you?re going for a certificate or a degree, to get a better job, a promotion or better pay. Finally, you can take actual personal self-improvement courses online. You can find courses like anger management, wellness courses, etiquette instruction, or courses on building your self-esteem or all about different anti-aging tips.

?

The vastness of the Internet means that if you have an interest in a particular subject, you almost certainly can find information about it. And the recent interest in online education means that you can probably find a course of study about things that interest you most.

Many people use online education for self-improvement by getting those degrees that you used to have to attend a 4-year college to obtain. But now instead of having to drive to a university and sit through hours of lectures, they take classes online. Most work full-time jobs and have families or other obligations all while getting an accredited degree. This was all but impossible just a decade ago.

?

Not everyone wants to take classes toward a Bachelor?s or Master?s Degree, however. Some people want to brush up on one skill, like handling a database or getting their dog to walk on a leash. Online education for self improvement is a booming part of online classes, and thanks to the convenience of taking classes on the Internet, and the prices which are becoming more affordable for most people all the time, there?s little reason why you can?t benefit from an online education for self improvement, too.

?

Many classes you can find online today are free. The only drawback to free classes is that many of them aren?t structured like courses you would ?take? but instead are presented in their entirety online, with no assignments or timetable. You find the ?course? and you read what you want, at your own pace. This is ideal for some people, especially those who were looking for articles or information instead of an actual course.

?

But some free classes are actually courses that you take, either downloading information at certain times or getting it through email, possibly even with chats scheduled for students and instructors. Many paid classes are affordable for most people, and offer the structure of a class without the restrictions of one, like rigidly scheduled class times and the need to fit them into your schedule.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Education

Getting an online education has become a very popular technique these days. Whether you are looking for a high school diploma or a graduate degree or some specialized certification to supplement your existing knowledge, it is very convenient to obtain these without having to take time off from your schedule to attend a regular educational institution.

There are many advantages associated with online study. Some are given below:

Unlike traditional learning, distance learning can offer you greater flexibility, as you don’t have to waste time- and money- commuting to the campus and you can choose a program that truly suits your interests or professional needs, because you are not confined to the classes that are offered locally.

Another advantage to distance learning is the fact that you can continue to work, because you don’t have to worry about fitting your classes around your job schedule.

Online programs often cost less than their traditional counterparts, so you can save money on tuition, if you pursue your degree through an online university.

Online study is also a great option for those students with physical handicaps, which may prevent them from traveling to a traditional campus. Likewise, if you are shy, or perhaps even language-challenged, participating in an online course may be the perfect alternative to a live class.

There are some major advantages to online education, including the ability to set your own study time. You may be looking for a promotion or career change that requires additional training or you may simply be ready to learn something new. But with today’s busy lifestyle, there’s little time to devote to regularly scheduled class time. That’s where online education can be a great asset for a motivated person.

Although there are many advantages of an online education, there are also some disadvantages. The fact that you are working on your own could very well be one of the major disadvantages of taking online educational classes.

Another major disadvantage is the lack of interaction. You aren’t in a classroom and don’t have the opportunity to hear questions and discussion from other students. This isn’t always an issue, depending on the subject of the online education course you are taking, but it could be an important factor in deciding whether an online education is the best option when seeking out opportunities for learning new skills or gaining new training.

But above all the disadvantages the online education is gaining more esteem than traditional education.

Education comes handy with online education

With the emergence of a new online course everyday, more and more people are opting for online education these days. Truly, online study has become a good alternative to traditional education. We live in a world where there?s almost no time for us to get into studies again, but still we all wish to get higher degrees. The number of accredited online universities is increasing day by day.

Internet is the main and the only channel of communication between the students and the faculty. The classes in these online universities are taken through V-SAT sessions and course material is in the form of CDs or DVDs that also contain lectures of different faculties. Assignments, projects and case-studies are delivered through e-mail. Problems and doubts can be cleared through chat sessions, and students can have every little thing at their fingertips without leaving the comfort of their home.

But there is a question about legitimacy of the degree. Do not fall prey to non-accredited universities offering illegitimate degrees. Just imagine what will happen to your career if the degree you?ve obtained with so much hard work and money proves out to be fake??

Time, age, job, family or other constraints keep us from obtaining a high degree. But with the help of the internet, we no longer have to lose hope. Online courses are there to cater to the needs of those who cannot attend regular colleges due to any of the above mentioned reasons or should I say constraints.

Online education is for just about everyone and every one has reasons for enrolling in an online course, reasons are many, the main is education becomes convenient through online study. Options are many for the people who want to achieve higher degrees. The tuition cots are much lower as compared to traditional land-based colleges or universities.

You can attend classes sitting at your own home and learn at your own pace. It saves money, time and the hazard of travelling to the campus. You can make your own learning schedules, which allows you more freedom to work for as many hours as you can. Education is much more flexible with online education.

Online learning is also called e-learning. For the people who have a fetish for travelling and just can?t stay at one place for a long time, online education is just for you. It goes with you wherever you go; it delivers lectures to you when you are free. So you see, online education offers high portability.

Personality development training and career training is also offered in online courses. Among the many benefits of online education, this is perhaps the one that helps one to come out of the shell and enhances his communication skills. As we know, communication is not done just through words but also through gestures and body language. And communication is one of the core traits of a successful business executive.

But online education also has some loopholes. There are universities which offer great facilities to its students but fail to offer a good legitimate degree and the worst thing is that the student comes to know about this when he finishes his courses and sits for an interview.

Is Accredited Online Education Right For You?

If you have decided that the only way for you to return to school is to do it online there are things you need to look into before you commit to any learning institution. First you must be certain that the university you are looking at is offering accredited online education. How many people understand what that means? Unfortunately, not enough students know how important it is to prevent some schools from scamming their online students. If you are following your education dreams then you need to understand how important accreditation is. To be an accredited online education course it must meet certain standards that are put into place to guarantee that the courses meet the educational requirements. Meeting the standards guarantees the student who is learning online that they will get the same education they would if they were attending day classes through a traditional program.

One vital consideration is that if it is a proper accredited online education program it entitles the students to the same rights and benefits as students in day classes. That includes financial aid, scholarships, tutoring, counseling or anything else in a long list of student services. Taking the courses though an accredited online education facility is necessary to allow the possibility of the student being entitled to get into government programs that can help with the costs of getting an education. Only accredited online educations programs will be able to access this assistance.

If you need to transfer credits from a school you took courses at previously to the online educational facility you are considering, both schools must be accredited for you to be able to do that. Once you understand the need for an accredited online education facility its time to look and decide which one to use. That depends a lot on the courses you are planning to take. Fortunately the location of the school offering the accredited online education courses means nothing. It can be in the same state as the student or the other side of the country.

Are you merely looking to finish the high school education that you regret interrupting years ago? Or instead are you looking to complete your Associates degree, or is it earning your Bachelors degree, Masters degree or your Doctorate that is your goal? Whatever your goal is you need to understand that an accredited online education facility, be it a college or university, will only have limited programs available. The choices are varied but they are not near as many as you would get attending a university that offers day classes. Whatever your choice in courses is, once you have registered with an accredited online education facility be prepared for some hard work to follow.

Online Education

The Internet has shortened distances, making it possible almost all of the activities that traditionally required going from one place to another, investing extra effort, money, and time. Today, you can study from the comfort of your home, at any hour of the day or night and even wearing just your pajamas, if you want.

Online courses have the additional benefit of immediate availability. No more waiting time until the next visit of your mail carrier, just sit down and turn on your PC to enter into your virtual classroom or have your list of today’s assignments displayed on your monitor.

Online education, also known as distance learning or e-learning, differs from traditional education because students are not required to visit an actual classroom and listen to an instructor face-to-face. If you have ever thought about an online education to further your current career, or to get training for a new career, now is a great time to get started.

An online education also means you do not have to take a break from your current job or career and can simultaneously become qualified for a better one. Contrary to belief, an online education is valued just as much as a regular one. In fact, people getting an online education are indicating that they are motivated to better themselves every step of the way and are willing to put in the required extra effort for this purpose.

Today, online education has come a long way. Instructors are now being hired to solely teach online. Companies are also hiring these online education programs, since a training session can not only be quick, but also be accessed at any time of the day or night. For many, it is a great opportunity because it gives us all more knowledge. We not only are able to get college degrees through this type of e-learning, but we also can have a life, without having to stay at the office overnight just to learn some material.

The choice for online education is vast. There are an unlimited number of universities and colleges that are ready to work with you and the time that you have available in order for you to get an education in the field you prefer.

Online education has made all degrees available to anyone and everyone who has the will to study. The cost of each degree differs from course to course but here too a payment plan can be worked out depending on your financial status and possibilities.

Overall, online education is much less expensive than going to a traditional school because you save on travel, time, and the courses themselves cost less. Much of the time you are able to get your degree much quicker and with much more ease in an online program than at a traditional college.

Modern technology allows surfers the access to a wide number of study materials and guides in a matter of just a few seconds. Nevertheless, apart from time, online educations provide economy, convenience and effectiveness to any learning program.

Exercise Your Mind With Online Education

With every New Year, we’re given a clean slate upon which to draw a brand new future. Along with New Year’s resolutions to exercise your body, perhaps it’s time to consider exercising your mind as well.

Now is the perfect time to continue your education. Of course the big question is, how do you fit one more thing into your already insanely busy schedule?

If you’ve ever hesitated to pursue further education because you couldn’t handle the rigors of a traditional campus program, it may be time to consider the relatively new, but rapidly growing area of online education.

Whether you’re a housewife ready to take on a new career, a mid-level boomer ready for another challenge, or just a person who loves to learn, online education can give you the boost you need.

Online education, also known as distance learning, is rapidly gaining popularity as a convenient, efficient and often lower-cost way to improve your mind, your life and your career opportunities.

According to “Making the Grade: Online Education in the United States in 2006″, a report that has been tracking the annual changes in the online educational system in the United States for several years, more than 800,000 students signed up for some form of online education in 2006.

In addition to the new 800,000 students, “Making the Grade” reports that more than 3.2 million people are turning to online education as a way to fill in their educational gaps, improve their lives, and enhance their employment and career choices. It is easier than ever to locate an appropriate, accredited school with online degrees and certificates.

In addition, getting federal financial aid for online education has recently changed, making it easier for schools and students to obtain funding.

There are opportunities available for almost everyone. Whether seeking a college degree, a career change, or a new trade, there are a multitude of choices being offered by numerous schools. Some are well-known brick and mortar institutions offering off-site, distance learning or “limited residence requirements” programs to meet every student’s need. Additionally there are numerous accredited online education programs that meet the criteria for financial aid.

Searching for the right online education program for you, your child, or your company can be a lengthy, time-consuming process. There are many things to consider, such as area of study, finances, and of course, which school to attend. It’s important to make sure that your chosen distance education program is accredited by the appropriate agencies. This will insure a better chance at financial aid, as well as better opportunities after graduation.

Make this a year to remember with new attitudes and new goals. Online education can help you improve your self-worth, net-worth and your bottom line.

5 Reasons Why People Fail Online Education

Online education is becoming a more popular way to get one’s degree today because it is more convenient to earn one’s degree from the comfort of his/her own home and at one’s own pace. The fast-paced lifestyle of today makes it more difficult for working adults, especially those with families, to take time out of their busy schedules and go to traditional classrooms on university campuses in order to obtain or upgrade their degrees.

However, online education is not the same as offline education in terms of how the classes are structured and how the material is taught.

There are many reasons why people fail online education:

1. The person is not used to working in an online classroom setting.

An online classroom is considerably different from a traditional classroom. There are rarely textbooks; most course material is presented online on web-pages, in downloadable reports, and in video and audio lectures.

In addition, you don’t sit in a traditional classroom with other people sitting next to you, behind you, or in front of you. Instead, they are on their computers at home or elsewhere, looking at the same course material you are, so you have no direct contact with them. You usually can “talk” to them via message boards or forums, making posts that anyone in the class can respond to, and vice versa.

In some rare instances, you might talk to them or your professor via the phone, but direct contact is not usually possible, and some students who are trying online education for the first time cannot overcome the lack of interaction and direct dialogue to complete the coursework and pass the course.

2. The person is not used to the rigorous expectations from a professor teaching an online course.

Online education is a new experience for professors as well, as this is a whole new medium for them to teach what they know. Some professors are more willing to embrace this new way of learning than others.

Some professors feel that they have to “make up” for the lack of interaction and direct dialogue that you would get in a traditional classroom setting, so they give you more assignments to complete than they would their traditional students, just to make sure that you are getting the education you should be getting because these professors are not confident or convinced that online education give you the same level of knowledge as traditional education does.

Some students cannot handle the extra workload and demands expected from some online professors, which is another reason why some students can’t complete online coursework.

3. The person is not able to deal with the extra distractions associated with online learning.

When you take an online course, you do so on your computer. Often, this is at home, where other distractions can affect some online students. This includes children and/or pets who are unruly and/or need constant care. Other worries regarding home life can also distract the online student from doing his/her very best, since he/she is still in the same environment even when he/she is “attending class.”

This can prove to be too much for some online students, resulting in them not completing online courses.

4. The person doesn’t have the computer skills necessary to complete the online courses.

For those who are trying to start a brand new career, especially one that is technically challenging, sometimes, the whole experience of working with computer software and programs that you have never used before can prevent students from doing well in their courses.

Not only do they have to try to learn the course material, but they also have to learn how to access the course material, how to ask for help when they need it via the message boards/forums, how to access the tests when they are ready to take them, etc.

For some online students, the experience is so overwhelming that they don’t succeed in completing their courses.

5. The person does not utilize good time management skills in order to keep up with the online coursework.

In order to be successful in the online classroom, you have to have good time management skills. After all, you’re the only one who decides when you “attend class,” when you take the tests (within reason; there is a time limit to complete the course, but you decide what days you take the tests, unlike the traditional classroom,) how much time you spend on the message board or in the forum, etc.

Some online students can’t designate their time between all the tasks required to complete online courses, as well as balance the rest of their lives.

It is suggested that online students stay current on their coursework as much as possible because once you fall behind, it’s very difficult to catch up, especially if you are not comfortable in an online classroom setting in the first place. Most experts suggest logging in at least once a day at least six days a week to give you the best chance of staying current on your coursework and giving you the best chance of completing your online courses.

By being aware of the reasons above, you can better prepare yourself to handle these challenges and give you a better chance of completing those online courses and your degree.

Why many employers like online education programs and encourage their employees to pursue their degree online if they are interested to enrich their knowledge with a degree?

Traditionally, if an employee want to further his study, he needs to either quit his job or takes a long unpaid leave in order to go back to school for a degree. If this is the case, employer will need to hire a new staff to replace the leaving employee or he need to find a temporary replacement if the employee is taking a long unpaid leave. It’s inconvenient for the employers if many of their employees want to quit their job and go back to school to get a further degree for their career advancement. Employers definitely do not want to let their experience staffs to leave and keep hiring new staffs and re-train for the vacant positions.

For job that need a lot of traveling, online education program fits in perfectly. It allows the online students to attend the online classes from home or while traveling.

Strong educational background that equip with the required skills in the related field will enable the employees to perform their jobs flawlessly. Now, employers can encourage their employees to earn a job related degree to gain more knowledge on their working field and be prepared for more challenging tasks. IBM, one of bigger corporate players is continuously encourage their employees especially managers and senior management team to pursue their MBA through distance learning programs. IBM commented that they needs a wide range of qualified managers at all level and that online education approach is the only one that is feasible in terms of cost, time and numbers.

Many companies do allocate scholarships and grants for their employees who are interested to further their study. Among these scholarships, some are dedicated specially for online students. Fund allocations for employees who study online are increasing showing more employers are encouraging online education to their employees.

Summary

More and more employers are encouraging their employees who like to further study to pursue their degree through online education programs. Employers like online education program because it provides a perfect solution for employers to allow their employee to enrich their knowledge in their job related field while retain their employees at their company.

Does an Online Education Fit Your Learning Style?

Statistics and facts for this article were found in “The Web’s Aspect on Student Learning” by Katrina Meyer, written for Technological Horizons in Education.

Online education is different from traditional education. When online education courses first evolved, they were close copies of traditional courses, delivered in much the same way, i.e.; via the reading of text. Now, however, online course designers have realized that online education is primarily a visual learning medium and are delivering course content through highly visual media, including pictures and video, which fits a visual learning style.

What Are The Types of Learning Styles? (Source: http://www.ldpride.net/learningstyles.MI.htm#Visual%20Learners:)

Visual learners learn through sight. They need to see the teacher’s body language and facial expression to fully understand a lesson. They prefer sitting at the front of the classroom to avoid visual obstructions (e.g. people’s heads). They think in pictures and learn best from visual displays including: diagrams, illustrated text books, overhead transparencies, videos, flipcharts and hand-outs. During a lecture or discussion, visual learners take detailed notes on the information.

New scientific studies have shown that if you learn through a visual learning style, online education courses may fit you better than a traditional program in a campus-based school. A typical online student will do well if he or she has certain skills and personality traits, such as:

* Learns visually,

* Is independent,

* Self-motivates,

* Has computer skills.

1. If you learn best by reading, studying diagrams, watching animations, pictures, and videos, or observing charts, you are a visual learner. Much of the information presented on the internet is presented visually, which is why it may be the ideal medium for you. In addition, your assignments and tests will be, for the most part, written, so that your visual learning style is the best for completing projects you will be assigned.

In recent years, the visual learning style classification has been modified somewhat and renamed the visual/verbal learning style. At www.metamath.com, it is explained. “The Visual/ Verbal Learning Style” You learn best when information is presented visually and in written format. In a classroom setting, you benefit from instructors who use a chalkboard (or overhead projector) to list the points of a lecture, or who give you an outline of a lecture. You benefit from information in textbooks and class notes. You like to study by yourself in a quiet room. You see information “in your mind’s eye” when you are trying to memorize. Learning Strategies for the Visual/ Verbal Learner (Source: www.metamath.com)

To aid recall, use “color coding” when studying new information in your textbook or notes. Use highlighter pens to highlight information in contrasting colors. Write down sentences and phrases that summarize key information obtained from textbooks and lectures. Make flashcards of vocabulary words and concepts that need to be memorized. Use highlighter pens to emphasize key points on the cards. The amount of information per card is limited so you can easily recall it and create a “mental image” of it. You can learn from material offered in illustrations or diagrams by writing out explanations of it. When learning mathematical or technical information, write out summaries in sentences and key phrases that are simplified. When a problem requires a sequence of steps, write out in detail how to do each step. Make use of computer word processing to speed up taking notes. Copy key information from your notes and textbook into a word-processed document. Use the print-outs for review. Before an exam, create visual reminders of information that must be memorized. Make sticky notes containing key words and concepts and place them in highly visible places –on your mirror, notebook, car dashboard, etc.

2. The independent learner is happy to work alone on projects and assignments. Most of your assignments will be done without input from other students, so it is imperative that you act independent and confident when it comes to completing projects on your own, without support from others. In fact, independent learners prefer working on their own rather than having to give support to other students and share grades with them.

3. The online education student will have limited contact with other classmates. In this situation, you must be self-motivated and have less need to rely on others for assistance. An important aspect of online success is the ability to encourage yourself to complete assignments and solve problems. 4. An independent learner is most likely to learn the computer skills needed to succeed in online education courses. The independent student has enough confidence to deal with occasional computer technical problems, as well. “With online education, we just turn the technology over to them {the students} and let them use it express themselves in their own unique ways.” Quote may be found at: http://www.netc.org/digitalbridges/online/symposium/quotes.php. If you are the type of person who hesitates to solve problems on your own, needs constant assistance from others, prefers to learn by doing hands-on projects or listening, or the use of manipulatives, then campus-based courses would be a better way to go. At a traditional campus, you will find others who have auditory and/or tactile learning styles similar to yours, with whom you can interact.

The key to success in online education courses is to make sure that your learning style fits the visual/verbal learning style needed for online education. You must be able to work at your own pace, independently, using visual media as your input. You must also be self- motivated and have enough confidence to solve problems as they occur. If you fit those criteria, online education courses are for you!

Online education has been touted as the new wave of education for the future. As more and more colleges and universities hop onto this virtual bandwagon, the opportunities for students increase both in terms of quality and quantity. Nowadays, it doesn’t matter whether you live in a small rural community, if you are trying to complete your education while juggling a host of other responsibilities, or even if you are looking for extremely specialized niche degree programs, online education is your best bet. As the number of students who enroll for online schools and colleges grows annually, colleges step up their efforts simultaneously to deliver the best designed degree programs that come along with a host of other benefits.

Propagating the ease of ‘school at home,’ online education can be your best option if:

You have other responsibilities besides your education – For stay at home parents, students who are already working, business men who travel a lot, students can study anytime, anywhere, and on their own schedule. As long as you have Internet access and a computer, you can plan your studies around your other schedule. And while it does offer great amounts of flexibility, an online education program does not mean less work. You have to be committed to take out time for your research and online lectures and fit in your assignments whenever you get the free time to do so.

You cannot physically be on campus or at a particular location – Whether this is due to prohibitive travel times or budget constraint, there is no need to commute daily to school or relocate to the city of your college of choice. You can be at home, at work, or even on the road and complete your work on time.

You do not have the money to fund an expensive college education – Online degree programs are significantly cheaper than the more traditional programs offered by colleges. You can now enjoy in your own home the benefits of an education without many of the financial hardships that are often associated with attending school. In addition, you will also save on traveling and accommodation and even childcare.

You need individual attention – Most college courses have too many students attending classes to assure any real one on one interaction with the professors. Internet education offers course material that is accessible 24 hours a day and students have the ability to re-read lectures and discussion as often as they require. Online students also have more interaction with their professors as email correspondence is vital in this method of teaching. In this way, a rapport between student and teacher builds up and proves useful in determining ones strengths and weaknesses.

You need to be up to date on a diverse range of study material – Many careers today demand recruits to be exposed to a larger field of knowledge than just their specific major. Online education offers up-to-date theory along with practical knowledge. Online healthcare programs, for example, offer on site practical training at a nearby hospital or clinic along with its theory based course material. Students also get exposed to knowledge and a broader range of content due to online access and e-content. Teachers are located all around the world and offer a world view on events and discussions that are invaluable in creating a diversified approach to education.

You want to be skilled with the latest technologies – By just using the Internet to attend class, students improve their online skills. Research and communication techniques are developed along with several other skills that prove important when applying for a job in today’s competitive market.

You benefit from team learning – Online graduate programs offer chat rooms and forums for students to interact with each other. Discussions, newsgroups and emails all encourage constant communication for problem solving and instruction. Instructors are also more approachable and open to online meeting and brainstorming sessions. Many online students feel that their education experience is much richer as a result.

All in all, online degree programs offer a host of benefits to interested students. And while the traditional forms of institutions will never be totally eliminated, it’s easy to understand why people are terming this type of education as the next big thing.

Discover Hidden Gems of Online Education

The World Wide Web is embracing all spheres of human life at a phenomenal rate. Ticket reservation, e-mail correspondence and online shopping have become an inherent part of our life. Sure enough, the education field was not left out of the loop…

In fact, according to CCA consulting, nearly 50% of all higher education institutions are currently engaged in some types of online learning. This percentage promises to rise drastically very soon, since the benefits of online education are vivid and speak for themselves.

1.High Quality Education

The outstanding feature of online education is that it can rank on a par with traditional campus education, since the online instructors have the same qualifications and demands to the students.

On top of that, online educators come with practical knowledge and may be from various parts of the world. This allows students to be exposed to the knowledge that can’t be learned in books and see how class concepts are applied in real business situations.

2.Who Pays The Piper Calls The Tune

Another bulky advantage of online educationis that it is “student centred.” This means that once you pick up some online course, you become your own master in terms of studying, having the unlimited choice of:

1.time and duration of your studies: since course materials are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, you can download them any time you want. Moreover, you can plan your schedule so that to be able to fulfill all your tasks apart from studying, such as work, child care;

2.way to study: this means that you can choose your own pace, methods and your own degree of intensity that work best for you;

3.place of studies: all you need to start studying online is a computer with an access to the Internet. That is all that matters. Where you are going to study is solely your choice. Thus, you can study at home, work, on a street or wherever your imagination drags you;

4.special subjects you want to pay special attention to and feel interested in.

Such freedom is a significant part of online education. At university you are restricted to certain rules that don’t register with you, but online education is custom, thus more pleasant and resulting.

3.Cost and Money Savings

Your satisfaction may be even more warmed up by the fact that online education is quite often cheaper than traditional campus education. Truth to be told, online education saves you quite a fortune.

First of all, you are saved from travel expenses, or paying for hotel rooms you will need to stay during all years of your campus education. Moreover, with online education you can print items as needed when provided with handouts and readings online. The result is the reduced expenses for the cost and time associated with never-ending copying, collating, and distributing these materials.

4.Equality with Other Students

Another benefit of learning online is that it provides the learners with the reinforced feel of equality.

Participating online is much more intimidating than in a classroom. All online students have equal opportunities to “speak up” by posting messages without typical distractions such as seating arrangements, volume of student voices, and gender and race biases.

Shy and anxious students feel more comfortable expressing ideas and backing up facts when posting online instead of speaking in a lecture room. Students can also think longer about what they want to say and add their comments when ready. In a traditional class room, the conversation could have gone way past the point where the student wants to comment.

5.Vast an Unlimited Resources

Since there are no geographical borders in online education, students can find diversity of course materials that may not be available to them during traditional education. Internet links can take you to other web-sites, databases, libraries, agencies, special archives and much more.

It should be also mentioned that with technology it is much easier to learn. Course materials include resources with a variety of perspectives in any number of media types-photos, audio, texts thus enhancing the quality and the interest factor of your course. This is especially true for professional training such as medical billing training or purchasing training.

6.Unlimited Access to Teachers

Online environment makes your instructors more approachable. Thus, whenever you have a question to specify or want to get a sound piece of advice, you can contact with your online instructor either via e-mail or in chat boards whenever it is convenient for you without waiting for office hours. In his return, the teacher will try to respond as soon as possible. This option for communication provides enhanced contact between instructors and students.

Taking everything into account, we can see that online education is undoubtedly the best option for those who wish to get qualitative and appropriate education which will easily fit in in their hectic lifestyles. If things keep on developing at the same rate online education promises to deliver even greater benefits in the future.

Do You Have the Discipline to Complete an Online Education Course?

Online education is the means by which a specific education system is delivered. Physical addresses and locations are part of the past as electronic techniques rush in to gain leverage in education. More and more universities that are popular and well known are adding an online presence to accommodate those who are not geographically able to attend the school. Separate from those existing schools, there are a number of online education centers that have an exclusive online presence.

Any person with a desire to learn and an internet connection can take advantage of online education. There are not the restrictions placed on online education as are placed on conventional means. Keeping a full time day job is not an obstacle when choosing this course of action as most programs also allow the user to complete the work at his or her own speed within a set time specification outlined by the course. Educational materials and resources are literally unending online and puts most traditional libraries to shame. Gaining online education provides a nice alternative to physically leaving home to accomplish education goals. However, there are a few disadvantages that the potential student should be aware of.

To be successful with online education the student has to have the ability to be well disciplined. The workload has to be completed on the student’s own merit and this can promote problems from the start. Online education specifically bases the principles on the student doing work alone without the direct supervision of an instructor. There is no governing body to demand assignment checks or to answer any questions that may arise throughout the course.

This doesn’t mean that there are no support resources when taking an online education course. There are many available to students and most higher end education facilities assign tutors and instructors at the student’s disposal. Most education centers offer the same services offline as they now offer online. This includes a host of counseling options and resources for any potential problems the student might have.

Signing up for online education is clearly pioneering a path for further education to be conducted online. Email, chat programs as well as forums are just a few of the tools that are utilized with online learning. Everything is now at the click of a mouse and can pave the way for a brilliant career in any field.

When choosing an online education program it is wise to put some time and effort into the research of the organization. Many programs are not recognized world wide and that often plays a pivotal role in shaping a student’s career. Be sure to select an education program that is going to supply proof of accreditation and that offers online assistance.
